THE ART OF CHAMBER SINGING
Presented by the Colorado College Music Department
COLORADO VOCAL ARTS ENSEMBLE
And COLORADO COLLEGE CHAMBER CHORUS
Deborah Jenkins Teske, conductor
Daniel Brink and Deke Polifka, accompanists
CVAE and the CC Chamber Chorus have spent the last several weeks working together on this eclectic concert, which marks the culmination of CVAE’s Spring, 2016 appointment as Visiting-Ensemble-in-Residence. Many of you who have been to recent concerts have heard the Ensemble sing the powerful and dramatic Canticum Calamitats Maritimae (Song of a Maritime Tragedy) by Finnish composer Jaakko Mäntyjärvi. The opportunity to share this and other beloved CVAE a cappella favorites with students is a great joy. The program also features works for choir and 4-hand piano, including”Wie Lieblich sind deine Wohnungen,” from Johannes Brahms’ A German Requiem and The Deepness of the Blue, by American composer William Avveritt.
Friday, May 6 7:30 p.m.
Packard Hall, Colorado College
Admission is free
