This performance is the culmination of CVAE’s acclaimed high school residency program, which mentors young singers and promotes a lifelong passion for the choral art. Gateways 2014 features the choirs of Air Academy and Mesa Ridge High Schools. The concert will open with a glorious 8-part motet by Renaissance composer Jacob Handl which will take full advantage of St. Mary’s sumptuous acoustics. The choirs will perform separately, and in combinations, singing the music of Palestrina, Ola Gjeilo, Emma Lou Diemer, Bob Chilcott, John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and more. Admission is free’ donations gratefully accepted.
